I came to learn about School of Awakening in 2002. I came to be with my family on holiday from Vancouver, Canada and met a woman at a Salsa Club. There were many gorgeous women on the floor, but somehow the one I decided to approach was Kavida Rei. I took an instant liking to her. She had a beautiful warm, feminine energy about her, unlike most of the women who were there. She seemed to exude an open and confident presence about her. As we spoke, she mentioned the word “Tantra”, and immediately my ears perked up. I had been looking for a Tantra teacher for about three and a half years! Previous to that, I had immersed myself into Hawaiian Shamanism for almost four years, healing a difficult past. From there, I gradually received the calling to study Tantra. The whole idea of sex and sexuality was foreign and daunting to me. It was not something I would discuss, except in a superficial, lighthearted, joking manner. I was clear that I had to work with just the right teacher. Meanwhile, I indulged in Salsa Dancing, using it as a means to explore my feminine side and the self study with books.

Kavida and I exchanged phone numbers as we had decided to swap a massage session. She lent me the book, “Tantric Love” that Sarita (and Geho) had written, and ten pages into the book, I knew that I had found my teacher. I got back to Vancouver, with great excitement, and announced to the man that I had just started going out with, Gordon, that I was planning on going back to the UK to study Tantra. With no expectations, I casually invited him to join me and to my surprise, he took up the offer.

The following year, we came along to our first tantra group, a Singles training. It was such a memorable time for me. I had never done anything like it and was greatly humbled! Sarita and Geho, the two most favourite people of my life, created a sacred space in the groups that gave me complete ease to drop into any of the processes with little apprehension. (This no easy feat for me, coming from a culturally repressed and strongly religious conditioning.) With deep gratitude and appreciation, it is they whom I hold in the highest regard, as my mentors, giving me passage to fully realizing my greatest potential as a therapist, a teacher and a human being.

Working as a therapist, my aspiration was always to assist others in coming back to their essential nature as quickly as possible. Whilst under the tutorage of Sarita, I was delighted and intrigued to be introduced to some of the most powerful methods to bring a person back to a state of well being and balance, quickly. These methods were aligned with my vision. I went on to train in Colour Light Therapy, Tachyon, and Angelic Reiki, alongside my Tantra training.

In 2004, still living in Canada, I did my first tachyon training known as the Quality of One (the course has since evolved to what is now known as Vertical Reality). This powerful training moved me along my journey very quickly. The course work is enhanced greatly by wearing a powerful pendant. This pendant creates a constant flow of energy from Source, hence I found myself cycling through my fears and apprehensions, the issues I had been working on for some time, which held me back from moving along my career path, effectively. I made decisions with more clarity and greater confidence. In May of that year, I started my Colour Light Therapy training. Due to distance and financial reasons, my intention was only to do the introduction and module one of the training. I was still commuting from Canada. After a profound breakthrough in the first module training, known as the Prenatals. I felt compelled to take on the rest of the training sooner than later. Using the combination of the colour and light gave me the depth of healing on a cellular level that was so insightful, that I was not going to stop now! (It was as if I was doing a proper Spring Clean for the first time!) I came to understand how the events of my life, until that point, was a culmination of struggle that I had created and manifested for my soul’s learning in this lifetime. The Huna work helped me to clear on a mental and emotional level and the Colour Light took me to another level. By August of that year, I gave up my apartment in Vancouver and moved to London. A couple of years later, I was introduced to Angelic Reiki by a colleague at the School. As a once Usui Reiki Master and one who had already established that Divine Beings are always looking out for and working with me, I decided that the training would enhance what I already knew. After doing the first two levels, I found that my connection to these Divine Beings became much stronger. I felt more secure in my connection to them and sense their presence more extensively in my work. I had believed that I was more of a visual type of person, with less kinesthetic ability, and strangely enough, after doing the courses, I now have the capability of being much more kinesthetic. These Divine Beings help me greatly in my work. I often feel their love when they come around, and for me it is as if my best and wisest friends are there to support and to help me carry through the task at hand. I call upon them to assist me in almost every facet of my life. I love the simplicity of working this system. Having received many benefits from the work, I now teach Reiki only in the form of Angelic Reiki.

From my own personal journey, I have received enormous benefits beyond measure, since having come onboard to the School of Awakening. I am grateful to all who have helped me on my journey and to have these amazing tools, as part of my repertoire for working with others. It is now an honour for me to help another to accelerate on their journey through life. What joy it is, for me, to see another lit up, feeling the fullness of love, bliss and living life full out! What are you hooked on?

In Spring this year, I participated in an advanced Colour Light Therapy training lead by Kamla where I learnt a treatment called “Freedom from Bondage”, also known as the “Unhooking” series. It helps you to release the negative aspect of any issue you choose, and so frees you to live your life energy in a way which is more in tune with who you would like to be. You can also unhook from a person’s name e.g. an ex-partner, a place, an addiction, a disease (you need to choose one word)…I imagine you could try it on anything. Popular issues include shame, guilt, struggle, unworthiness, poverty and slavery.

I had such a powerful experience unhooking from ‘guilt’ that I was inspired to write an article about it – click here to read Sidika’s article.

Malika also received a series of three Unhooking sessions – her issue was around ‘Letting in nourishment – unhooking from starvation’ – she’s written a beautiful account of her experiences and the learning she received. Morocco Colour Light journeys

During the month of July there was an unusual and very profound journey in Morocco. We were nine people, which included Colour Light Therapy session givers and clients. Some of our group came from France, and some from England. The event expanded to include many Moroccan people who also came to receive sessions, once the word spread. Some clients received a series of sessions. Three clients had a series called Transmitter Relays, 12 sessions of two hours each. This series cleanses and releases past, present and future traumas, including childhood, the time in the womb and past lives. It works on physical, emotional, mental and soul levels, bringing harmonization and healing to all these dimensions.

One client received the Male Female Balance series of nine sessions, which releases negative imprints from mother and father, helping us to live in tune with our individual truth. It should be added, that we cannot release the light essence of mother and father, but only neurotic aspects which do not serve our well-being. This series helps to draw out our innate birth potential and will improve the relationship we have with our parents by releasing emotional issues and confusion which stand in the way of a harmonious connection. It also balances the right and left hemispheres of the brain.

Another client received the Holographic series, seven powerful sessions which work on healing any degenerative, life threatening disease patterns. In essence, this series helps the client to experience a death of the old way of being, and to choose a new blueprint for life which will better serve his or her soul calling. It lifts us up to the holographic dimension from where our life choices are made before incarnation. From here, we become aware of a multitude of positive life enhancing choices we can make to better serve our true nature. Going through this process opens up tremendous healing potential.

One woman received the prenatal series, which cleanses and heals any trauma which happened during the time in the womb and birth. It also includes healing of the Bardo levels, or the space in-between lives. Many addictions stem from prenatal issues, which normally makes them difficult to heal. Since the trauma is preconscious it is difficult to access. One of the wonderful things about Colour Light Therapy is that it sneaks behind all our armoring and defenses and helps us to become liberated from stuck patterns at a cellular level, as well as psychological and emotional levels. Therefore it is perfect for healing pre-conscious issues, or issues buried in the deep subconscious.

The people who came for a single session were amazed to discover the rapidity with which physical symptoms were healed. Chronic back pain, ankle pain, or hormonal imbalances and stress, were all treated quickly and effectively.

These profound life transforming sessions took place within the exotic ambiance of Morocco. We visited four different locations, making our journey very rich in both inner and outer experiences. Highlights included megalithic stones which are almost exactly the same as Stonehenge in their formation and size. The Hamman in Tangiers was an unforgettable experience. This cave like space, had heated floors, and an overflowing source of hot water, creating a steamy, mysterious atmosphere. Naked women of all shapes and sizes filled three large rooms, while matrons with pendulous breasts moved around, taking on the task of soaping us like little babies, then scrubbing us from head to toe till we were literally like a snake who has shed it’s old skin for new. Feeling thus refreshed, we were ecstatic to feast on delicacies afterward in the hot humid night air, on a terrace overlooking the plaza.

In a resort by the Atlantic Ocean, the waves were so powerful it was impossible to swim for long distances. We had to accept the fact that this beach was more for receiving a wave jacuzzi massage, being tumbled into turbulent water. Some of the beaches in Morocco are a disgrace, since the people seem to have no idea about protecting environment, but leave their broken glass bottles littering the sand. We did see many signs telling people to take care of the environment, but this message has not sunk in. We saw huge fields literally carpeted with plastic bottles and litter of all kinds. As in every place in the world, there are drawbacks, and there are areas of astonishing beauty. The artisan crafts on display in the ancient walled cities in the various towns we visited are truly masterful. Many a time, I was wishing I had come in a big van, to be able to buy some of the wonderful objects, such as carpets, pottery and furniture, all hand crafted.

The highlight of our trip was in Chefchaouen, a Sufi village in the mountains, next to a beautiful river. The old town has all blue-washed buildings. Being there is like stepping back to the time of Aladdin’s cave. The ancient winding cobbled streets have a wide array of arts and crafts on display. Coming to the edge of the town, there is a wide river with tingling cold water straight from the mountain heights. Here carpets are washed in the old way, beaten in the river and laid out to dry on the bank.

Traveling further up the river by car, there are wonderful bathing areas, with waterfalls, pools and little beaches. Here we spent a very pleasant day. The only strange thing was, to notice the definite lack of women bathing in the water. They hung out on the bank, fully dressed with scarves and long sleeved dresses in the full burning sun, while the men and children cavorted in the water in bathing suits.

On the last evening of our visit, our French hostess of the guest house we were staying in, organized a very special event. This was with Dar Gnawa, a traditional healing music group who play for all night trance dance events, called ‘Lila.’ The master shaman musician is named Abdellah El Gourd. He also plays fusion music with some of the greatest musicians of the world. We were spellbound as they made their way onto the terrace, in full costume, beating huge drums and singing. The music gets under the skin, and creates an irresistible urge to dance. They play huge castanets, and Abdellah plays a special stringed instrument.

They sing, and take turns dancing, inspiring the audience to join them. The music builds in tempo, finally exploding into an orgasmic crescendo. After each piece, they smoke and drink sweet mint tea. In this way, they continue till sunrise. As the audience joins in, if there is someone who feels a call to be healed, they can put some money at the feet of the master. At this point something beyond words takes possession of the person and they dance to a frenzy, purging and expressing whatever is sitting on their energy as they dance. Finally, they collapse on the floor in a faint.

Of course, I went straight into trance with this very hypnotic music. At a certain point in the evening, in a state of no mind, I found myself putting my money at the feet of the master. As soon as I did this, the music, musicians and I became one. I was completely possessed by a powerful, healing, purging energy, which expelled all impurities from my psyche and body. I let go completely into it, dancing beyond time and mind till as one, we all let go. As my body fell to the ground, the music stopped suddenly. As my body lay prone, loving feminine energy surrounded me, bringing a special scent under my nose, caressing my face, bringing water to my lips. It was a death and a rebirth. I have deep love and respect for this type of healing ritual, and would love to see this spreading in the world. I believe when people go to raves, deep down, they are actually searching into their ancestral memory for this kind of healing and purifying event. As I complete this blog, I would like to express my gratitude to these musical healers, and to all the people who participated in our healing retreat in Morocco. What a gift it is to open to healing energy, with Colour Light Therapy, with music, and all the other healing modalities which weave their way through our lives!

Taster Workshops and sessions at Osho Leela ‘Month in Paradise Festival’

Kamla Deva, our main Colour Light Therapy facilitator and Amala (a gifted practitioner from Bristol) will be visiting Osho Leela in Gillingham, Dorset next week. They will be providing a taste of this powerful therapy at the Osho Leela Healing Festival which runs from 12-16th August. Amala will be giving sessions during the festival and Kamla will be running a free Colour Light Therapy taster workshop on Saturday, 15^th. Click here for the full festival program.

Kamla and this time Sidika will be visiting Osho Leela again for their Ultimate Celebration Festival on 25-31st August (see programme). Kamla’s workshop will be on Sunday, 30^th August.

So what exactly is Colour Light Therapy?

Taster workshops and sessions are an ideal way of experiencing the power and versatility of Colour Light Therapy (CLT). Many people confuse CLT with Colour Therapy – the two therapies are very different. CLT is a holographic healing method which uses coloured light to facilitate change at the cellular level, going to the very roots of emotional, spiritual and physical problems. It is gentle, easy to learn, and highly effective. It creates profound results on the levels of body, emotions, mind and soul.

CLT is derived from Colourpuncture – a method of using a light torch to treat acupuncture points and other points on the body, which was developed by German Naturopath, Peter Mandel. In Colour Light Therapy (created by Sarita, founder of the School of Awakening) we use the Colourpuncture treatments and torch as a starting point and we then add Dialoguing, emotional release, picture diagnosis, hypnosis, dream work and meditation.

With these additional elements, we perhaps focus more on facilitating understanding of the emotional and soul issues causing ill health and assisting you to consciously release those issues. Colourpuncture tends to have more of a clinical approach with a greater focus on medical issues. In Colour Light Therapy we also specialise in personal transformation work and include personal development as part of our training approach. It is used extensively and to great effect to support participants in Sarita’s Tantra workshops.

On September 11-13^th, Kamla will be facilitating a 3 day residential Colour Light Therapy Foundation Course at Osho Leela. This will be our first time bringing the Foundation Course to our friends at Osho Leela – the price is a bargain as it includes delicious food and accommodation – particularly if you book before the early bird date.

There will also be a Foundation Course with Qiming in London on 4-6th September.

These September dates will most likely be the last opportunity this year to attend the Foundation Course before the Practitioner Training starts in November.
